How to Avoid Contested Divorce?

A Contested Divorce is more expensive and complicated than an uncontested Divorce because contested Divorce involves you and your spouse disagreeing on how to handle the key issues and decisions.

If you and your spouse can come to an amicable arrangement on the Divorce and Ancillary Matters, you can avoid a contested Divorce which is more expensive and complicated than an Uncontested Divorce.

You can ask the Court to arrange for a Resolution Conference.

You can make your request through your lawyer or to the Deputy Registrar when you attend Court.

You can also ask the Family and Juvenile Justice Centre to arrange for counseling.
